Little flower brooches.

I've been in a mad flower brooch making frenzie recently since my daughter had come home from a fancy accessory shop in town and told me how much they were selling them for.  After I'd made one for the friend she was going to buy for, I set about having a go at different styles of which there are numerous.  Here are only a few of the ones I've made as they disappeared as soon as I'd made them.  The organza one is my absolute favourite and today I went out to a fabric fair to buy some more organza in some really special colours.

These little brooches will become gifts for Christmas and as it happens this weekend on Creative Inspirations the new theme is a gift.  So these have become my DT entry but the other members of the DT have made some gorgeous projects well worth taking a look at.
Here's a little close-up.

Snowflakes

Today at My Stamp Box, we're having a day to show off what we've created in the run up to Christmas. This is my project made by stamping snowflakes onto acetate.  Sadly I found it totally impossible to photograph them in the window as they were intended so had to hang them from a door, but I think you get the idea. These snowflakes are so cute and are big too so are great for cutting out.

The best way to get the white onto the acetate was to emboss too with white powder as I'm just not satisfied with white ink to stamp with.

Pointy hats.

I made this journal page a few weeks ago to try different techniques and as this weeks Wednesday Stamper theme is pointy hats it seemed the right time to show it. I've used a few different stamps here but two of them have been home made - the chandelier is a die cut in foam which I've stuck with a glue stick to my acrylic bloc and the hat was the first stamp made with my Imagepac.

mad for stars.

I'm a bit late this week creating my Wednesday Stampers artwork due to the pressure of Christmas which is in 5 weeks by the way. I'm thinking of putting up a counter on the side here to remind me. Actually it'll most likely panic me instead.

Anyway, the theme is stars if you didn't already guess and once I started with it I kept finding stars of all sorts in my stash which I had to include on the page. The result is a mix of stamps (My Stamp Box) Sizzix, beads, stones and glitter. The page is so glittery and shiny but it's totally lost in the photo sadly but in the light it sparkles beautifully.

Little Matchbooks.

I have a tutorial for these little matchbooks up on the My Stamp Box site.  They're so quick and easy to make and would be great to give as little gifts at Christmas. For the full tutorial follow the link here.

Challenge 47

We're up to challenge number 47 at Creative Inspirations and this is my card for the blog.  It's a digital image from Soft Pencil and it's just so cute I had to use it.

Prizes this time are from Soft Pencil and The Crafty Pad.

The challenge is winter which shouldn't be too difficult to manage as most of us are thinking about our christmas cards.  So join us over at Creative Inspirations and have a look at the other design team entries before submitting your own.

Journal page whimsy fun.

Yesterday I had an absolute blast just painting all day long. I was introduced to whimsy characters by my friend Lena and quite frankly I didn't think it was really me, but as it developed and the painting started I began to love it. Ok so she still needs a little work here and there but for a first one I'm pretty darned pleased. It ended up being a really cute journal page entry.

Asia.

This is my Wednesday Stampers piece where the prompt is "Asia".  I'd completely forgotten I'd got these stamps from Rubber Stampede and Kodomo Inc., I've had them that long buried under lots of other wooden block stamps. The watercolour background was mounted onto cork as it's easy to cut and light when used on the front of a card.

Remembrance Day.

Today, 11th day of 11th month is Remembrance Day or Armistice Day.  It commemorates the end of world war 1, "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice. When I was younger it was all about remembering those who fought in the two world wars but now we have to remember all those who serve in all conflicts around the globe. In the UK at least it's symbolized by the wearing of a poppy simply because the poppy grew in large numbers over the freshly turned over battle fields of the first world war and also the red colour of the poppy became an emblem for the blood which was shed.

This tag, is my modern day interpretation using stamps from My Stamp Box to firstly create the faux batik background and then again to stamp and emboss onto the white card which I punched out in circles.

If you go to the My Stamp Box blog you'll be able to see plenty of other Remembrance Day interpretations by the other members of the DT.

6 weeks 'till Christmas - eek!!!

I've decided it's time to start making the Christmas cards, after all there are only 6 weeks and a bit until the big day and that's even less posting days.  I had a free morning this morning so I got out all the sparkly stuff, paper and Christmas stamps and had a play. These two were top favourites but to make them on mass I'd have to change the background technique a bit. I did make a large background sheet with stamps and distress inks to cut up but the technique I used was a bit labour intensive so I'll have to streamline that a bit.

I love the ink colour which is Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and the stamps which are Deck the Halls and Let it Snow from My Stamp Box.

Them Legs.

I've hardly had chance this week to create anything as it's been a very busy school holiday week, but yesterday I finally had the chance to get out my journal and put paint to brush.

This page is for the Wednesday Stampers challenge called Them Legs.  As usual I've gone back to the old magazine cutouts I love so much and cut up the image to leave the focus on those leggings which I'd love to own (and get into).  The background is an acrylic paint wash with stamps by My Stamp Box and the bit of tape at the top is some fabulous Ranger masking tape which I bought a week ago at Wiesbaden craft fair.
