A bit of girlie glamour.

I had a wonderful day on friday at the craft fair at Weisbaden in Germany. Thank you ladies for a great time and lots of laughter on the bus too.

I came away with lots of new ideas and some really yummy purchases.

The card above is a bit of girlie glamour, the new theme for the next two weeks at Creative Inspirations.  The sponsors for this challenge are Fantastic Ribbons and Paper Cupcakes who are both giving away some brilliant prizes.

Stitch and go

Today my first post as a member of the My Stamp Box team is up on their web site. It features this layout with a sewn background.  I had great fun doing it and almost got carried away with the sewing part. The background is distress ink over a Tim Holtz mask, glimmer mist, My Stamp Box stamps  and some maching sewing of course.  For the full blog post you'll just have go go over and check it out.

Happy Halloween.

I had some really sweet comments following my last post and I was really cheered up to have received so much sympathy, so thank you.
I'm well cheered up now thanks and back in my crafty groove and as it's Halloween week (is it really, you wouldn't have noticed would you?) I thought I'd make a wall hanging to go in my hallway.
I layered fabrics and papers onto Calico and sewed it all together on the machine.  I decorated it with some cute flower stamps from My Stamp Box and the chipboard bat which has been painted with distress crackle paint is from Magistical Memories.

Love yourself!

I've been having a crisis of confidence recently and lots of negative thoughts have been floating around my head "I'm no good at this", "I can't do that", "I'm getting too out of shape" etc etc, you know the sort of thing I'm sure - we've all been there. With this weeks Wednesday Stampers theme being 'Hearts', I thought I might cheer myself up with a journal page to tell myself to find some positives and stop all this negativity.  So, some acrylic paint, collage and a heart stamp later and I feel much better.

Getting ready for Halloween.

I'm stunned every year at how early the holiday celebrations are pushed in the shops. Already the supermarkets are filling with their Christmas decorations and sweets and usually by the time we get back from our holiday in September, Halloween stuff is filling the shelves.  It's now well past the beginning of October so I think it's safe to start planning for Halloween, so here's the first of my 'makes' for this year. Its a goody bag for trick or treating complete with choccy already.
It's my creation for challenge 45 at Creative Inspirations where the theme of course is Halloween/Fall.

This time there are two sponsors who are Card Mad Fairy's Digital Stamps who just happens to be Jenny one of our design team members and Some Odd Girl also a digital stamp company.

So to see more Halloween inspiration visit Creative Inspirations to see what the other members of the dt have created.

Rock Chick Mona.

This is actually one of the first successful stamps I managed to make with my Imagepac stamp making kit. I'm thrilled to be able to use it too on this ATC for this weeks Wednesday Stampers challenge which is 'Faces'.

Journal page using text page.

This is my journal page for Scrap a la Fraise where Lillith has thrown down the latest challenge to use only book page as embellishments. I found the illustration of this figure in a book called the  '50 minute exercise book' published in 1926. It's a book full of strange contorted figures so holds lots of journal potential!  After I'd cut around it, I turned it over to glue the back and actually decided I rather liked the image silhouetted with text inside, so I glued it on this way up. The stamp is from Hero Arts and I hope this still counts as it's not striktly an embellishment but part of the background.

My garden is confused.

We're enjoying some wonderful Autumn weather at the moment with warm temperatures. The drawback of this, if it can be a drawback, is that things in the garden are just a bit confused.
A couple of days ago I noticed a little house martin had taken up residence in one of the abandoned nests attatched to the front of our house. What he thinks he's doing there is anyone's guess? I hope he didn't miss his chance to fly away with his friends as he'll find it a bit chilly later on when winter finally does come.
That wasn't the only odd thing though, the oddest has to be the spring flowering plants which have come to life and started to flower. I had to take a picture of a lupin flowering next to the asters. Amazing!

I thought I'd do a journal page using the photo and as the theme this week on Wednesday Stampers is to use purple, it fitted perfectly.  The title has been stamped believe it or not by my own hand made stamps. I cut the font from craft foam using my Sizzix and they made fabulous stamps.

Get Well.

'Tis the season, not to be jolly but to be armed againsed the winter colds and coughs which are doing the rounds about now. If you're the parent of  a school age child, then you'll know that once school starts so too do the bugs and it's a never ending cycle of illness.  So a diet rich in garlic (won't win you friends) and vitamine C might help slightly but it's inevitable at some point you'll succome and maybe even more than once!
This card goes out to my friend Lena who works in a nursery and is constantly being exposed to these  nasty germs.  She's getting over her first bout of seasonal cold and I'd like to cheer her up while she recovers.
It was also made for the challenge at  Creative Inspirations challenge blog where the challenge for the next two weeks which was set by Cheryl, is to create something along the theme of 'Get Well'.

My Stamp Box

Today starts my term as a Design Team member for My Stamp Box and the new term is being started off with a blog hop. From the My Stamp Box blog you'll find the names of all the existing DT members who, one by one, will be introducing all of us newbie's.  For one lucky person who leaves a comment on ALL DT members blogs and finally at the My Stamp Box blog, they have a chance to win a stamp set - how cool is that?
I've created a card using MSB 'Itty Bitty' stamp set to say thanks for giving me this opportunity.
I look forward to working with the team and their fabulous products.
Here's to the next 6 months.
