Countdown to my holiday.....

I'm just longing to make a new mini book so I've decided to make a small journal to take on holiday in a few weeks. We're going to the coast of France and I'm very much looking forward to it.  Of course I'll be taking a box of supplies so I can do some cutting and sticking while I'm away.  After seeing what Donna Downey had done in her journal for her Inspiration Wednesday, I thought I'd try a page in a similar style.  I loved her watercolour background and the way she decorated her letters with a gel pen.  Absolutely gorgeous.  This page in my old journal will set the tone for the travel journal.

Stamping onto metal.

I love playing about with different materials and one of the projects I worked on for My Stamp Box as their guest designer this month, was a set of glass charms on tin.  Stamping onto the tin is no problem using a permanent ink like Stazon.  I punched holes in the little metal shapes and threaded the wire through.  A few beads added that fancy touch and you'll not loose your glass again at a party. I used the Itty Bitty stamp set from My Stamp Box as before to create the charms.

A digital stamp and a bit of stitching.

For this next challenge at Creative Inspirations challenge blog I was given some digital images to play with from Whimsy Stamps.  The best thing about digital images are that you can print them onto just about anything which will go into your printer.  I decided, therefor to take advantage of this fact and print onto calico allowing me to create a stitched project instead of a paper one.  The theme anyway for this next challenge is 'anything goes' so basically the world was my oyster as they say.
I use some acrylic paints to colour in the image as they wouldn't bleed into the fabric and the little purse wouldn't be put in the wash (I hope).

If you want to enter into the challenge for yourself, go over to Creative Inspirations challenge blog and submit your artwork and you could be in with a chance to win a prize from Whimsy Stamps.

Fairy dance.

It's been absolutely ages since I did a challenge for the  Wednesday Stampers and this week the theme is A Midsummer Nights Dream.
I've got quite a few different fairy stamps and decided to try and create a scene with a couple of them.  I've used watercolour paints to add some colour but looking at it now it might have been better not to have stamped onto such a dark background.

As guest designer for the month of July,  My Stamp Box is featuring a tutorial I created using polymer clay and their Itty Bitty stamp set.

This is the mini canvas featured in the tutorial.  To find out how I did it go to My Stamp Box where you'll find a step by step tutorial.

Sorting out my stash.

For challenge number 38 on Creative Inspirations challenge blog the challenge is to use the oldest thing in your stash.  This took some thinking about.  Would that be paper, ink, stamp or some embellishment hidden away?  If it was a paper then it's most likely hidden under all the other papers because I just didn't like it but I was a card maker before I was a scrapbooker so I imagined it would be a stamp.  So then I got to thinking what was my first stamp and that was a real tough question.  There were several which it could possible have been but I pinned it down eventually to this butterfly stamp from Inka who are sadly no longer around.  Once I'd got it out and started to play around with it I did start to wonder why I'd left it in the bottom of the stamp drawer at all. It's a gorgeous stamp and fitted right in with my newer and more up to date papers too.

I challenge you to look through your stash and pull out the oldest thing you have and play around with it, then submit  your art work to the Creative Inspirations challenge blog and you could win yourself a prize.

It's actually quite rewarding too to go through your stash every so often as you turn up stuff you'd totally forgotten about, plus you get to have a jolly good sort out too!!

Two quickie cards

I made these two cards using the free stamp on the Craft Stamper magazine for July.  The background is watercolour paint and salt which gives this beautiful effect.  The stamp was printed onto calico fabric and glued down onto book page.

I thought I'd share them here.
